On a peninsula where Aquia Creek and the Potomac River meet, Widewater State Park provides access to both bodies of water (it is about 3.5 miles up Aquia Creek from our house). The park lies on several non-contiguous parcels interspersed by private property for a total of 1,089 acres. The park has a visitor center, picnic shelters, playgrounds, restrooms, canoe-kayak launches, a motorboat launch, hiking trails and paddle-in camping. The park is just a couple of years old and so some of the portions of the park are not complete.
